My Top Ten Comics of 2013

What a crazy year 2013 brought us in comics! As you heard me mention on the podcast, I would be posting this after episode 110 hits the airwaves, making it third year in a row I have put finger to keyboard to bring you my thoughts on my favorite comics. I will also be including where these books placed on my lists in prior years (if they appeared at all) and a few also rans. As always, you can follow me on the Twitter Machine for the most current and up to date musings from my mind. Enough chit chat, let’s get down to business!

A Cold Day In Philly - the End of Wrestling Is Cool

A snowy day in Philly as well, but none compares to the chill in the air, the feeling of everyone, both fan and wrestler a like, as what was believed to be the final Wrestling is Cool event of 2013 turned into the final Wrestling is Cool event, period.

Wrestling is Art Closes Up Shop

I don't get out for long distance travelling as much as I'd like these days, overnight trips just doesn't agree with me, but when the line up was finalized for the Wrestling is Art events set for Massachusetts and Rhode Island, I was sad I wasn't going to be there live. Two stacked line ups, but with a specter of uncertainty looming over them, many speculated what may happen, but no one could guess what would actually happen.

As I prepared to write the recap for the latest Wrestling is Respect event (I've been slacking, but I've also been very busy with other projects), I began getting texts and tweets and emails about what happened in Nashua, NH at the Wrestling is Awesome event with only one image to be found:

Intense No More?

I try to be positive in this world of pro wrestling. I try and surround myself with people of this similar mindset and involve myself in promotions that push positivity. While I was not in attendance for what turned out to be the final Wrestling is Intense event, I was able to put together some high points for an overall depressing situation.

Wrestling is Respect Rebirth 01/28/13

I had the pleasure to commentate the return of Wrestling is Respect at the end of January in Boonton, NJ. Rising from the ashes of the Pro Wrestling Respect promotion, which I had been a fan of in the past, I was interested to see how this reimagining would be. Suffice to say, what was presented was a hard hitting, action packed wrestling show!

Wrestling is Fun! Feliz Banavidad Fallout

Coming off the final Wrestling is Fun! show of 2012, the ninth show in just 12 months, there is a TON to cover. Getting to see the entire show from the commentary table allows me to really take in the action and what all these matches mean in the grand scheme of things. Top Ten Comics of 2012

Has it been a year already? My dreaded sphere of influence grows and grows thanks to the podcast and the Twitter Machine. Todd & I covered out top books on this week's show but since I did a more detailed list last year, here's my top ten comics series of 2012:

Marvel NOW! - It's Here & Best Bets

Call it a refresh, call it a reshuffling, call it musical chairs, just don't call it a reboot. Just as DC Comics had success last year rebooting their entire line of books, starting November (outside of three books launched this month) Marvel are giving many of their books a fresh coat of paint. But are any of them worth your while? Below are the announced titles so far, the PREVIEWS solicit text and New York Comic Con press releases. The site Marvel has for this event is very unhelpful, missing info about who is writing/drawing the books to information on the books themselves. Also, I will have my thoughts on each of these books.

Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp (from my Great Grandma Hamersley)

Butter a 13x9 pan and fill with a mixture of:

Sliced apples
1/2 cup sugar
Cinnamon to taste

Topping:
2 cups of flour
2 sticks of margarine
1/2 cup sugar
Cinnamon to taste

Squeeze all ingredients for the topping together with your hands until it is mixed well. It will be lumpy. Sprinkle on top of apple mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

Halfway through the list, let's dive into the next 15 entries! This is the first entry of someone who asked to be on the list and the only information I could find on them was a dead link. After multiple requests for more information, I received no response. And since this is done at random, they stay on the list. And there may be another one tomorrow. The clock is ticking.

Here we go folks, the beginning of what will come to be the greatest and most comprehensive list of talent involved in pro wrestling. Now that the lists are being made public, check these people put. They all wanted it bad enough to be on this list, after all. Are you a fan, check out their videos! Are you a wrestler, follow these guys (and gals) on Twitter! Are you a promoter looking for great, motivated talent, now you know how to contact them!

the LFC List 2012 - Because I Got Less Than 500

The cut off was last night, I have my list and now it's time to make the donuts. The internet donuts.

Let's start right off with this: I only got sixty responses. Deep down I never thought I would really get 500 responses. This is going to to change the roll out of the list since there are must fewer people. It will probably start on September 10th with about 15 names a day.

The list is made and set already, 60 through 1, set in stone. I simply did one pass through RANDOM.ORG and went from there. Lots of surprises and debate to be had, I'm sure!

Between now and then, I will be compiling more information about those on the list. Some are easier, since they are a bit more public, others not so much. I will be getting in touch in some people to see what they would like in their write ups.

Once the list is published, we need to push this to as many people as we can. Just like before, link to it on your Twitter, your Facebook, your blog, mention it on your podcast. The more people see it, the more people will want it!

And one day, together, we will get to that 500!

the LFC 500 - You Gotta Want It!

So, here it is, an idea that started as a goof less than 24 hours ago is going to be a real thing. Before we get to the rules you may be wondering why am I doing this?
If you read my previous post right here you will see my thoughts on the PWI 500 is and what true purpose it serves. My list will have no bias and will hopefully be used as a way to expose people in the wrestling community to new eyes. I’m, in no way, looking to gain financially, get more page views or followers with this experiment/venture. I did get an offer from a popular wrestling & pop culture website to be the exclusive host of the list. While I do appreciate the offer, I would like this to remain independent of anyone other than me. If you do run a blog, website, podcast or other media outlet, please feel free to repost, reblog, etc. this list anywhere you like.
